Savilla M. Horst

Savilla M. Horst, 99, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Green Ridge Village in Newville, PA. Born April 6, 1926, in Mercersburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late William and Nora Hornbaker Musselman. Her beloved husband, Nathan E. Horst, whom she married on December 21, 1946, preceded her in death on March 26, 2023.

Early in her life, Savilla was employed at the Stanley Company in Chambersburg and the Chambersburg Livestock Auction Barn. She also worked with her husband on their dairy farm but most of her time was dedicated to making a home for her family. In her spare time, Savilla enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening, sewing and baking.

She is survived by five children, William Horst and wife Nancy of Chambersburg, Darlene McCurdy and husband Donald of Shippensburg, Donald Horst of Chambersburg, Donna Meyers of St. Thomas, and Charles Horst and wife Jackie of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Aside from her parents and husband, Savilla was preceded in death by her son Gary Horst in 2024; three brothers, James, Preston and Charles; one sister, Verma; and her son-in-law, Edgar Meyers.
