Steven R. Conner, 65, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Born June 17, 1958 in Chambersburg, Steve was a son of Shirley Swailes Conner of Chambersburg and the late Robert J. Conner, Sr. He was a 1976 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League, the Chambersburg Club, and the VFW in Chambersburg. Steve enjoyed golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cynthia L. Martin Conner, whom he married May 3, 1980; two daughters, Christie Jumper of Shippensburg and Chasity Conner of Chambersburg; five grandchildren, Tyler, Peyton, Jeydon, Kaydence, and Mason; three great-grandchildren, Dawson, Harper, and Layla as well as one on the way. He is also survived by three sisters, Louise (wife of the late Michael) Henry of Chambersburg, Tracey (wife of David) Metz of Shippensburg, and Lisa (wife of Craig) Timbrook of Chambersburg; two brothers, Robert Conner, Jr. and wife Deb of Chambersburg, David Conner and wife Kelly of Blue Ridge Summit; his brother-in-law, Billy Martin of North Carolina; and his sister-in-law Sheryl Shannon and husband Kenneth of Ohio. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas K. Conner on June 21, 2014; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Bill and Fran Martin.
A service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Freedom In Christ Church, 4042 Sycamore Grove Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. John Pogue will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until the service begins at 5:00 PM.
It is important to the family that Steve’s co-workers and friends attend the service to celebrate his life and as Steve would have wanted, please come as you are whether in casual attire or directly from work.
