Thelma Johnson

Thelma Mae (Stewart) Johnson, 87, formerly of Saint Thomas, PA, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, September 12, 2023 at Brookview Healthcare Center. Born December 21, 1935 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late William W, Sr. and Della (Coldsmith) Stewart. A 1953 graduate of Chambersburg High School, she was employed and retired from a long career at the T.B. Woods Company in Chambersburg. Thelma and her late husband, Harold, were long term members of the Saint Thomas United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, Thelma enjoyed cooking and baking for multiple family gatherings. She also enjoyed vacationing in Florida and multiple New Jersey seashore locations, hunting with her late husband and traveling with him to many fan faithful years of attendance at Philadelphia Phillies home games. At the time of Harold’s passing on April 5, 2015, they had shared over 38 wonderful years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William W. Stewart, Jr. and three sisters: Margaret (Stewart) Fahnestock, Helen (Stewart) Decker and Pauline Stewart. She is survived by multiple in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Thelma’s nephew, Rev. Adam Leeper will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
