Velva May Morris

Velva M. Morris, age 84, of Chambersburg, PA, entered into the presence of the Lord on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Providence Place. Born in Newburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mark E. and Elva M. Stayman Gutshall.

Vel was a 1958 graduate of CASHS. She worked in the Guardian Office at South Mountain Restoration Center for 20 years, retiring in 2003. Vel attended Life Point Church. In retirement, she volunteered at the Chambersburg Hospital and enjoyed spending time at the Chambersburg YMCA and gardening. She was a proud winner of the “Yard of the Month.”

Surviving are two children, Dane Morris (fiancé Brenda Seibert) of Greencastle, PA, and Dena L. “Dee” Graham (husband Robert “Bob”) of Shippensburg, PA; two grandchildren, Derek Musser and Jessica Morris; and her longtime friend, Barb Newcomer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Tate, and her life partner, Charles Metzgar.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1 PM at Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Joe Hall will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd.
