Mr. Walter R. Hann, 96, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026 in Shippensburg Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born March 17, 1929 in Breezewood, PA he was the son of the late Raymond E. and Carrie A. (Morse) Hann.
He served with the United States Marine Corps during Korea from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. Walter was employed as senior quality control engineer for Corning Glass Works, Inc. He retired after 28 years of dedicated service.
Walter was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant United Brethren Church where he was part of the Kings Sons & Daughters Class and taught Sunday School for many years. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1599 and Marine Corps League both in Chambersburg. Walter was also a member of the Chambersburg Mall Walkers Club, AARP, and prior to his retirement a member of the Harrisburg/York Chapter of the American Society for Quality Control.
He is survived by three sons, Timothy W. Hann (Diane) of McConnellsburg, PA, Joey E. Hann (Patti) of Chambersburg, PA, and Thomas R. Hann of Fayetteville, PA; three grandchildren, Jason W. Hann (Amy), Rachel E. Meczywor (Bryson), and Ian J. Hann; five great-grandchildren, Lexia Hann, Addison Mae Hann, Jacob Hann, Jackson Meczywor and Henley Meczywor; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 76 years, Faye B. (Barton) Hann who passed away September 19, 2025; a grandson, Benjamin T. Hann; four brothers; and five sisters.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, 2509 Black Gap Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor Jim Bolich officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Chambersburg where military honors will be conducted by members of the honor guard of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday morning in the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
