Wayne Richard Best

Wayne Richard Best, 92, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Brookview Menno Haven. Born October 27, 1933 in Dry Run, PA he was the son of the late Wayne and Sarah (Benedict) Best.

He was a graduate of the Chambersburg High School with the Class of 1951. Mr. Best then went on to serve with the United States Army until his honorable discharge. He was employed as a machinist at James River formerly the American Can Company. Mr. Best retired after 33 years of service with the company.

He was a member of the Chambersburg Bible Church. Mr. Best loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Gary Best (Kimberly) of Stroudsburg, PA, two granddaughters, Kayla Jenness (Barrett) of Center Valley, PA and Erin Best of Stroudsburg, PA; a great-grandson, Grant; and a brother, Glenn Robert Best of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Doris J. (Daugherty) Best and two sisters, Dorothy Gsell and Martha Best.

Services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 24, 2026 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor Steve Trostle officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday afternoon in the funeral home.
