William “Bill” Peerce, 87, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born May 26, 1936 in Colmar Manor, MD he was the son of the late William A. and Edith (Irving) Peerce.
He was a graduate of Bladensburg High School with the Class of 1954. Following that Bill served with the United States Army from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1963. He was employed as a truck driver for Safeway Stores, Inc. He retired in 1997 after 38 years with the company. Bill was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chambersburg as well as a former member of the Moose Club, Chambersburg. He and his wife were also members of the Escapee RV Club, traveling all over the United States together. Bill was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and bird watching.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Thelma (Neal) Peerce who he married June 18, 1977; seven children, Dawn Schaefer of Chambersburg, Wanda Worrell of Mercersburg, PA, Vickie Harmon of Shady Side, MD, Pady Peerce-Short of Oxford, MD, L. Dean Murray of Long Island, NY, Ellie Peerce of Independence, KY, and Terri Peerce of Roanoke, VA; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a number of nieces and nephews. Bill was the last of his immediate family.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
