Dickinson Township is a rural community in south-central Cumberland County, home to roughly 5,300 residents and a scattering of small crossroads settlements such as Mooredale and Barnitz. The northern half of the township lies in the fertile Cumberland Valley, a landscape of working farms and open fields, while the southern half rises into South Mountain and the Michaux State Forest. The Yellow Breeches Creek, a limestone trout stream designated a Pennsylvania Scenic River, crosses the township and draws anglers from across the region.
The township sits between Carlisle to the north and Shippensburg to the west, with U.S. Route 11 and Interstate 81 running through the Cumberland Valley just to the north. South Mountain, the Michaux State Forest, and the Appalachian Trail give the southern end of the township its wooded, mountain character. Our funeral home at 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg is about 25 minutes southwest, a straightforward drive down the valley.
