Funeral Options for South Green Families

A funeral should reflect the life it honors. Some South Green families want a full evening visitation followed by a church service; others prefer a small gathering at the graveside with only those closest to them. We explain every option in plain language, share pricing before anything is decided, and build the plan around your family's wishes and budget.

Visitation and Viewing

A set time for friends, neighbors, and coworkers to gather and offer comfort. We can include a tribute video, photo boards, or the personal belongings that tell your loved one's story best.

Chapel and Church Funeral Services

Hold the service in our chapel, your own congregation's sanctuary, or another place that matters to your family, shaped by the stories, music, and scripture you choose. When clergy is not part of the plan, one of our trained life celebrants can lead the service.

Graveside and Committal Services

A committal can follow the funeral directly or stand on its own as a quiet, intimate farewell. We coordinate with the cemetery so the timing and details are handled before your family arrives.

Honors for Veterans

We help South Green families arrange the military honors a veteran earned and guide you through the paperwork for the benefits available to them.

Advance Funeral Planning

Record your wishes now so your family is never left guessing. We can also transfer an existing prearranged plan from another funeral home to ours.

What Sets the Geisel Family Apart

Funeral service has been the Geisel family's calling since 1919, when Vernon Geisel opened the family's first funeral home in Pleasantville, Pennsylvania. Thomas Geisel purchased the former John O. Park Funeral Home in Chambersburg in 1983 and built our present home on Falling Spring Road in 1993 to meet the community's growing needs. Four generations later, we remain family owned, so the people who sit with you to plan the service are the same people who carry it out.

Our 13,000 square foot facility brings the chapel, private family rooms, and our own crematory together under one roof, which keeps every part of your loved one's care in our hands. Franklin County families have honored that approach by voting us the county's best and recognizing us with a 2023 Community Choice Award.

We believe clear pricing is part of good care. Our General Price List is published online, and we walk through it with you line by line so there are no surprises later. Our support continues after the service, too, including a year of weekly grief support messages for anyone who would like them.

About South Green, Pennsylvania

South Green takes in the southern end of Greene Township, the part of eastern Franklin County where the township meets Chambersburg to the southwest and Fayetteville along its southern border. The township is named for Revolutionary War general Nathanael Greene, and it has grown steadily over the past two decades, from 12,284 residents in 2000 to 18,436 at the 2020 census. Newer neighborhoods sit alongside long-established farms here, with the ridges of South Mountain rising to the east.

Lincoln Way East, the historic Lincoln Highway and today's US Route 30, is the backbone of the area, running from Chambersburg through Fayetteville and on toward Caledonia State Park and Gettysburg. Part of Caledonia State Park lies within Greene Township, and the Totem Pole Playhouse has staged summer theater inside the park for generations. The Chambersburg Mall on Black Gap Road (PA 997) and quick access to Interstate 81 at Exits 16 and 20 keep everyday errands and travel close to home.

Getting to Us from South Green

Our funeral home is about ten minutes from most South Green neighborhoods. Head west on Lincoln Way East (US 30) toward Chambersburg. As you approach the Interstate 81 interchange at Exit 16, turn left onto Falling Spring Road beside Hoss's Steak & Sea House, then continue a short distance south to 333 Falling Spring Road. If you are closer to the Chambersburg Mall, take I-81 south from Exit 20 to Exit 16 and make the same turn onto Falling Spring Road. Parking is available on site.

If the drive is difficult for anyone in your family, simply let us know when you call. We are glad to meet with you at your home in South Green to begin arrangements.
